Oxfordshire Artweeks 2026

It seems about five minutes since the last Artweeks, and possibly about ten minutes since Artweeks 2022, but apparently it’s a year and four years respectively … I meant to sit this one out, but a few months ago my friend and neighbour Judith Yarrow asked if I’d join her in an exhibition in her studio, and it really was an invitation I couldn’t refuse; I’ve often visited her there as a punter, and very much admire her work. And it’s a wonderful setting. It’s also just a few yards up the road from my house in Chipping Norton. So here we are again, the same but different:

We’re having a preview this Friday (8 May) from 6.30-8.30pm, and will then be open 11-6 daily from 9-17 May; it would be lovely to see you at either or both. (I’ll be there at weekends and towards the end of most weekdays, maybe a bit more on Thursday and Friday.) We’re at 8 Cross Leys, Chipping Norton OX7 5HG.

In another change from past practice, I’ll be showing paintings as well as jewellery for the first time. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a while, and I really am excited (not social-media-excited) to see how they look. Some of the jewellery incorporates fragments of paintings and some of the paintings incorporate fragments of poems, and if only I’d thought to use some gold tooling as well, I really could claim to be heading for a single inclusive practice … or some such …

That aside, it should be a lovely show spread over several rooms, and I know from past years that Judith is a wonderful host. Very much hope to see you if you can make it!

I love love all of your jewelry, paintings and book bindings and appreciate the originality of your designs. I was a jewelry maker papermaker/lampmaker and poet before I moved to Mexico 25 (YIKES) years ago. Since then I have switched to retablos and mixed-media assemblages and published 9 books…so I identify totally with your creative diversity!!! Good luck with your show. Needless to say, I am up to my ears in jewelry…both mine and everyone else’s, but there is no way I could leave your exhibit without buying a few rings, earrings and bracelets. I love your necklaces but have racks and walls and doors covered with them but never wear them..For some reason I can’t stand the feel of metal around my neck anymore. Or, if they are non-metal, when I look in the mirror they always feel like overkill. I love looking at them as art objects, however and have them all displayed.
